About The P. P. Quimby Resource Center

The Phineas Parkhurst Quimby Resource Center is an out-growth of my own research into the life and Science of Phineas Parkhurst Quimby (1802-1866).

Preceding Divine Science, Unity, Religious Science, and the other variations of the New Thought Movement; preceding Mary Baker Eddy's Christian Science Movement;   Phineas Parkhurst Quimby, the clockmaker from Belfast, Maine was performing seeming miracles in the restoration of good health in the physical bodies of the sick and suffering.

Without the use of any medications, physical applications, Spirit Guides, homeopathic remedies, gemstone crystals, Aura Bath Soaks, etc., Dr. Quimby was facilitating the healing of his patients by using the Wisdom that is available to everyone of us at anytime and anywhere.  In an advertising circular he distributed from 1860 thru 1865 titled To The Sick, Dr. Quimby wrote in part:

There are many who pretend to practice as he does, but when a person while in "a trance" claims any power from the spirits of the departed and recommends any kind of medicine to be taken internally or applied externally, beware! Believe them not. "For by their fruits ye shall know them."1

In a supplemental article also titled To The Sick, and written by Dr. Quimby in 1864, he further explains:

My mode of treating the sick is entirely new and original with myself. I have no similarity or affinity with any other mode of practice. Therefore, when others undertake to identify my practice with any other, they not only misrepresent me but show their weakness by so doing. For everyone that I treat that can understand me at all see that I am entirely different from any other person. Those that have some selfish motive to identify me with mesmeric [hypnotic] practice use this argument: it is nothing but mesmerism, [hypnosis] etc. Others that wish to class me with the spiritualist say it is spiritualism, but I won't own it.

Now this mode of misrepresenting me I, of course, can't help, only as I make my patients understand.2

On March 7th, 2002, I uploaded the original Quimby web site to the Internet with the sole intention of sharing the Wisdom I had found in P. P. Quimby's writings.  Since that time, I have experienced the pleasure of meeting a variety of many loving, caring, seekers and teachers of Truth.  I am staunchly dedicated to Phineas Parkhurst Quimby's right to Freedom of  Speech: very specifically, his right to have his unedited words and writings placed before the public and readily available to everyone.

Calgary Life Enrichment Centre

Information for the Calgary Life Enrichment Centre, an activity of the Quimby Foundation of Canada, may be found here...

This Resource Center is produced, maintained and is operated independently of any other individual, group, or organization.

I would like to express my appreciation to the authors, historians and scholars, past and present, who have so graciously shared their time and materials with us here.

Together through the generosity of sharing, we have assembled this Phineas Parkhurst Quimby Resource Center.

Those of us who are interested in Quimby, owe a debt of gratitude to Dr. Ervin Seale (1909-1990), and his committee of scholars, editors and others, who assembled the entire collection of the Quimby materials.  This published collection is the most complete and historically accurate transcription of Quimby's writings to date.  Information on how to purchase this three volume set, Phineas Parkhurst Quimby: The Complete Writings, may be found here.   There is nothing quite like holding one of the hard-covered volumes in your own hands.

An Internet version of the Phineas Parkhurst Quimby - Concordance on CD Rom, has been added to this web site and may be used free of charge.  To access the Internet Concordance System,  please click here.

If you are a new visitor to this web site and don't know where to begin your reading, I would suggest starting with Quimby's Lecture Notes.  Quimby's writings are listed in Alphabetical and Chronological order.  If you should get lost in this web site, there is a comprehensive Site Map linked in the bottom right-hand corner of every page.
